Last year I started planning my trip to Los Angeles to attend Bat's Day at Disneyland [i.e. avoid the Mouse and do everything BUT walk through the gates to the crappiest place on earth] and it totally fell though due to my move and other personal reasons.
Well, it now looks like I'm going down south after all thanks to Karina and her big mouth [*grin*] I will be attending one night of the International Pop Overthrow this year at Spaceland to see Roger Joseph Manning Jr.'s set [and hopefully photographing it: waiting for permission]. The 8th also marks a whopping 15 years since I've last seen Roger in person [I barged in on his soundcheck at the Catalyst when he was still in his old band Jellyfish]. My geekyness is almost unbearable at times [**snickers**]. Ah well; it only proves that good music stands the test of time [this is coming from someone who spent nearly $300 to see a-ha in NY last year as well]. Anyway, after the show I get to spend a day or two in LA, then enjoy a nice long drive back up to the Bay Area with Karina & Gael; I haven't experienced that drive in ages. I totally miss roadtrips; this will be a lot of much-needed fun. Things have been so totally stressful around here I really need a diversion.
